Medicare Advantage plans (Part C) are plans designed to give Medicare beneficiaries the option of buying their Medicare coverage through private insurers. Medicare Advantage plans cover all the same services as Part A and Part B, but also provide additional benefits. While the specific benefits will vary from carrier to carrier and from plan to plan, many of the gaps left by Medicare will be filled.
A major benefit of Medicare Advantage plans is that they can often be had at little or no cost to the beneficiary. Additionally, there is an Annual Enrollment Period during which Medicare Beneficiaries can enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan with no underwriting requirements.
